SHE WAS A CHILD. HE WAS HER BOYFRIEND. NOW ONE FAMILY IS MOURNING AND ANOTHER TEEN FACES A MURDER CHARGE. 💔
La’Meya Mitchell was only 13 years old.
According to police, her life ended after she was shot near her home in Savannah.
The suspect, 16-year-old Jeremiah Seaton, was reportedly her boyfriend.
Authorities say Seaton later went to a police precinct and confessed to shooting La’Meya.
Her mother, April Jones, arrived to find her daughter lying in her own yard.
That image has become a memory she says she will never be able to erase.
La’Meya was remembered as a joyful and loving child who enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
She was still in middle school.
Still learning.
Still growing.
Still imagining what her future might look like.
Now her family is planning memorials instead of celebrating the years they expected to have with her.
Her community is grieving.
Her classmates are grieving.
And her mother is demanding justice for the daughter she will never get to watch grow up.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the circumstances leading to the shooting have not been fully disclosed.
But one thing is already clear:
La’Meya should still be here.
🕊️ Rest peacefully, La’Meya.
