According to Maj. David Lapatin, Providence police officers were dispatched to Swift Street at approximately 2:30 a.m. following reports of a “man down.” When officers arrived, they located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim was identified as 20-year-old Bleemsworld Joe. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but despite emergency medical efforts, he later died from his injuries, officials confirmed.

Investigators believe the victim may have been riding a three-wheel motorcycle that was found at the scene. A neighbor told 12 News they heard gunshots in the area shortly before police arrived. Officers quickly secured the scene and began canvassing nearby homes and streets, searching for witnesses and reviewing potential security camera footage that could help identify who was responsible.

Maj. Lapatin stated that authorities do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public at this time, noting that the shooting appears to have been somewhat targeted. However, detectives are still working to determine the circumstances that led up to the deadly encounter.

No suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made as of the latest update.

The tragic death has left many in the community shaken as investigators continue to gather evidence and seek answers. Police are urging anyone with information, video footage, or details related to the shooting to come forward as the investigation remains ongoing.
