Suspect Arrested in Gaffney Avenue Shooting
On Thursday, August 6, 2026, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers with the Gaffney Police Department responded to the 200 block of Gaffney Avenue regarding a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located a male victim, identified as Bryshun Demond Sarratt, suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. Officers immediately rendered medical aid to Sarratt until emergency medical personnel arrived and assumed care.
During the initial investigation, officers quickly developed a person of interest. Officers secured a residence and vehicle believed to be connected to the incident while detectives continued their investigation and obtained the necessary search warrants.
Officers also located a crime scene approximately 250 yards from where Mr. Sarratt was initially found.
Following an extensive investigation, Gaffney Police Department detectives obtained arrest warrants for Calvon Tremain Studyvance for the following charges:
Attempted Murder
Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime
Studyvance was arrested at his residence and transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center, where he was booked on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
Studyvance’s bond hearing is scheduled for Friday, August 14, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the City of Gaffney Municipal Court, 201 N. Limestone Street, Gaffney, South Carolina 29340.
