Erin Myers Obituary-Shooting News: Columbia Community Mourns 3-Year-Old After Shooting
COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA — A Columbia community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of 3-year-old Erin Myers, who died after suffering a gunshot wound inside an apartment at The Colony on Bailey Street Thursday evening.
Authorities said the Columbia Police Department received a report of the shooting at approximately 5:40 p.m. Richland County deputies responded to the apartment complex within minutes and found the young child suffering from a gunshot wound.
Erin was transported to a local hospital in critical condition as medical teams worked to save his life. Despite those efforts, he later died from his injuries.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office identified the child Friday as 3-year-old Erin Myers.
