The Marana, Arizona, community is mourning the reported death of a Marana High School student who was found dead on campus early Tuesday morning, September 8, 2026, prompting a police investigation and the cancellation of classes for the day.
According to the Marana Police Department, officers responded to the high school at approximately 6:47 a.m. after school staff discovered an individual on school grounds.
Preliminary information indicated that the individual had entered the campus at approximately 1:30 a.m. before being discovered by staff several hours later. Police subsequently confirmed that the deceased was a student at Marana High School.
The student’s identity has not been publicly released. Authorities said the family had been notified as investigators continued working to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
