Langston Neal Found Dead: Langston Neal, 21, Dies After Being Reported Missing in Lake Wylie
A tragic Labor Day outing on Lake Wylie ended in heartbreak Monday night with the death of 21-year-old Langston Neal of Charlotte, North Carolina, after his body was recovered from the lake.
According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews were called after reports that a young man had jumped from a boat on Lake Wylie and failed to resurface.
The incident quickly prompted a search-and-rescue operation as emergency personnel worked to locate Neal in the water. Despite efforts to find him, the operation ultimately became a recovery effort.
Multiple agencies joined the response, including the York County Office of Emergency Management, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and the Newport Fire Department.
The search operation was based out of Ebenezer Park as crews coordinated their efforts on the lake.
Neal’s death has brought sadness to those who knew him and to the wider Charlotte-area community. A holiday outing that began as a gathering on the water ended with the devastating loss of a young life.
Authorities have not provided additional details about the circumstances surrounding the incident beyond the reported jump from the boat and subsequent recovery.
