The community of Clinton is mourning the tragic loss of Murphy Andes, 16, who was killed in a devastating single-vehicle crash Friday evening in East Feliciana Parish.
According to Louisiana State Police, the crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Highway 958 near Old Carney Road. Investigators say the vehicle failed to properly navigate a left-hand curve, left the roadway, and then overcorrected before rolling multiple times.
Despite being properly restrained, Murphy suffered fatal injuries in the violent rollover and was pronounced deceased as a result of the crash. Her sudden passing has left family, friends, classmates, and the Clinton community heartbroken and in shock.
The driver, a 17-year-old girl, was seriously injured in the crash and transported to Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge, where she is reported to be in stable condition.
As word of the tragedy spreads, those who knew Murphy are remembering her as a young life full of promise, taken far too soon. The loss has left a deep void in the lives of her loved ones and has shaken the entire community.
The crash remains under investigation by Louisiana State Police, and no further details have been released at this time.
