In loving memory of Ryan M. Johnson, 28, of Newfoundland, Pennsylvania, whose life was tragically cut short in a fatal motorcycle crash Sunday night in Palmyra Township, Pike County. His sudden passing has left family, friends, and loved ones heartbroken as they mourn a life gone too soon.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred around 9:15 p.m. on May 17 at the intersection of Route 507 and Route 390. Investigators said Johnson was operating a 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 400 motorcycle when the fatal collision took place.
Authorities reported that a 2017 Nissan Murano, driven by a 17-year-old female from Tafton, was traveling on Route 390 and stopped at a posted stop sign before attempting a left turn onto southbound Route 507.
At the same time, Johnson was traveling south on Route 507 when his motorcycle struck the rear portion of the SUV as it entered the roadway. The impact caused severe injuries, and Ryan M. Johnson was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officials confirmed he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the SUV was not injured and declined medical transport at the scene.
Police noted that the primary violation for the SUV driver was failure to observe “duties at stop sign.” Johnson was also listed for “driving at safe speed.” Investigators further stated that Johnson had consumed alcohol prior to the crash, and preliminary findings indicated the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed before impact.
Emergency responders, including Troop R CARS and the Forensic Services Unit, assisted at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
As loved ones grieve this devastating loss, Ryan is being remembered for his life, his presence, and the memories he leaves behind. Though his life ended suddenly, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him most.
