According to the Jackson Police Department, officers were called around 1:00 a.m. on May 17 to the 5100 block of I-55 North near The Hideaway nightclub after reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found evidence of a violent altercation that had erupted in the parking lot involving multiple individuals.

Investigators said a physical fight between several males escalated, leading to gunfire being exchanged during the disturbance.

During the incident, officers discovered a black Honda Accord with a female inside who had been struck by gunfire in the upper body. Emergency responders transported her for urgent medical care, but she later succumbed to her injuries. The victim was identified by Hinds County Coroner Jeramiah Howard as Alana Duck, 19, of Brandon.

Two other individuals were also injured by gunfire and were taken by AMR ambulance services to local hospitals, where they remain under medical care. Their conditions have not been released.

As the investigation continues, no arrests have been announced. Authorities are working to determine what led to the altercation and who was responsible for the exchange of gunfire.

As loved ones grieve this heartbreaking loss, Alana Duck is being remembered for her young life, her presence, and the memories she leaves behind. Her sudden passing has left family and friends in deep sorrow, struggling to understand how a night out turned into tragedy.
