With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, the community of Hopkinsville is mourning the tragic loss of Joe Taylor, 55, who died following a devastating crash on South Virginia Street Tuesday morning.
According to Hopkinsville Police, the crash happened around 11:55 a.m. when Taylor was traveling northbound on a motorcycle. Authorities said his motorcycle collided with a tree-trimming truck that was turning onto South Virginia Street from Means Avenue. The impact caused serious injuries.
Emergency responders with the Hopkinsville Fire Department and Hopkinsville EMS arrived quickly at the scene. Captain Payton Rogers said Taylor was immediately given CPR before being transported to Jennie Stuart Health for emergency treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he later died from his injuries at the hospital.
Officials also confirmed that medical helicopters were requested, but due to the severity of his injuries, air transport was not possible.
The Christian County Coroner’s Office released Taylor’s identity after notifying his next of kin.
