Police in Barrie are continuing to investigate after a man was injured in a shooting at an apartment building in the city’s north end Tuesday evening.
According to Barrie Police Service, officers responded to reports of gunfire near the area of Johnson Street and Shanty Bay Road shortly before 8 p.m. Emergency crews arriving at the scene located a male victim suffering from injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.
Paramedics provided immediate medical assistance before transporting the man to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the severity of his injuries or his current condition.
A large police presence remained at the apartment complex for several hours as investigators secured the scene, gathered evidence, and spoke with residents and potential witnesses.
