A tragic shooting along Florida Boulevard in Baton Rouge has left a young man dead and a community searching for answers after violence erupted inside The Athlete’s Foot earlier this month.
Authorities confirmed that 28-year-old Na’Quail Weaver died after suffering a life-threatening gunshot wound during the incident. According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting at the store around 3:07 p.m. on May 14. When officers arrived, they found Weaver critically injured at the scene.
Emergency responders rushed him to a local hospital, where medical teams fought to save his life. Despite those efforts, Weaver later succumbed to his injuries, according to the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office.
