Authorities in Indianapolis are investigating an early morning shooting that left a DoorDash driver injured in what may have been an attempted carjacking near Waterford Place and Rosehill Drive.

According to preliminary reports, officers were dispatched to the area at approximately 3:57 a.m. after receiving reports of a person shot. When police arrived, they located a 28-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the side of his face.

Emergency medical personnel responded quickly and transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials reported that the victim was alert and conscious at the scene with a Glasgow Coma Scale score of 15, indicating stable injuries despite the seriousness of the incident.

Officers established a crime scene in the Portland Square area as detectives searched for evidence and canvassed the neighborhood for witnesses and surveillance footage.

Residents in the area reported seeing a heavy police presence as investigators worked through the early morning hours to piece together what happened.

At this time, no arrests have been announced, and authorities continue searching for the suspects involved. Anyone with information, home surveillance footage, or knowledge related to the incident is encouraged to contact Indianapolis Metropolitan Police or Crime Stoppers.
