A 33-year-old Cherokee County woman is facing a first-degree felony charge after authorities say she shot her live-in boyfriend twice during a violent argument at their home over the weekend.
Investigators identified the suspect as Alanna Dawn Bilbo, who has been charged with aggravated assault against a dating partner with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a residence on County Road 2813 after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Authorities allege Bilbo admitted to shooting her boyfriend during a heated verbal confrontation inside the home. Investigators say the victim was first shot between the eyes and then struck a second time in the back of the neck while the altercation continued.
Despite the severity of the injuries, officials say the victim survived the attack and was transported for emergency medical treatment. His current medical condition has not been publicly released.
Court records show Bilbo was arrested at the scene without further incident and later booked into the Cherokee County Jail. Her bond was set at $150,000.
A judge has since issued an emergency protective order that places several restrictions on Bilbo while the case proceeds through court. The order reportedly prohibits her from contacting the victim or his relatives, possessing firearms, or returning within 1,000 feet of the residence connected to the shooting.
Texas law treats aggravated assault involving a deadly weapon and serious bodily injury as a major felony offense. If convicted, Bilbo could face a prison sentence ranging from 5 years to life behind bars, along with substantial financial penalties.
Investigators say the case remains active as detectives continue gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses connected to the domestic violence incident.
