The Kansas City community is mourning the tragic passing of 74-year-old Roger Stroble, who lost his life following a devastating three-vehicle crash involving a speeding sports car on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just after 4:45 p.m. on May 20 near 34th Street and Merriam Lane. Investigators say a 2019 McLaren 570S driven by 28-year-old Sidney Kile was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when it struck a 2017 Honda Accord making a turn onto 34th Street. The force of the collision caused the McLaren to then crash into a stopped Ford F-250 pickup truck.
Authorities confirmed that Stroble, a passenger in the McLaren, suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash. He was transported to the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he later died despite medical efforts to save his life.
News of his passing has left family, friends, and loved ones heartbroken as they mourn the sudden and unexpected loss. Those who knew Stroble are now remembering him with deep sadness, holding onto memories of his life while trying to process the tragic circumstances of the crash.
The driver of the McLaren also sustained suspected serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. The drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured, according to officials. Authorities confirmed that all individuals involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
As word of the crash spread, messages of sympathy and condolences began pouring in for Stroble’s family. The loss of a loved one in such a sudden and violent crash has left a painful impact on those closest to him, as well as the broader community.
