The community of Union Gap is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 23-year-old Miguel D. Britt, who tragically died following a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 82 near Grandview.
According to the Washington State Patrol, Miguel was driving a grey Infiniti G35 westbound near milepost 73 when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway. Investigators later determined that speed too fast for conditions was the official cause of the crash.
Emergency crews responded quickly and transported Miguel to Kadlec Regional Medical Center, where he later passed away from his injuries despite lifesaving efforts by medical staff.
A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 21-year-old Nicole S. Wheeler of Kennewick, survived the crash and was airlifted to the hospital for medical treatment. Authorities confirmed that both occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
Miguel’s sudden passing has left family members, friends, and residents throughout Union Gap grieving a young life lost far too soon. As news of the tragedy spread, messages of condolences and remembrance began pouring in from those who knew him personally and from others touched by the heartbreaking accident.
Loved ones are remembering Miguel not only for the tragedy that took his life, but for the memories he created, the friendships he built, and the impact he made on people around him. His death has become a painful reminder of how quickly life can change and how deeply a loss can affect an entire community.
The Infiniti involved in the collision was declared totaled and later removed from the scene by Salgado’s Towing. Authorities said the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
