A man has been charged with murder after his wife was found dead inside a home on Seward Drive, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
Police responded to the residence on Wednesday after receiving two separate 911 calls reporting a possible homicide at the location. When officers arrived, they located a female victim inside the home who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim was identified as 66-year-old Stacy E. Kless.
Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said investigators determined that her husband, 67-year-old Michael A. Kless, was responsible for the fatal incident. Following the investigation, authorities located him inside a vehicle at a Garden State Parkway rest area.
Officials said Kless was found unconscious in the vehicle and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he remained in critical condition.
He has been charged with murder and unlawful possession of a weapon. Prosecutors confirmed that the weapon involved in the case was a barbell.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the events leading up to the discovery of the victim and the suspect’s condition at the time he was located.
No further details have been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
