A tragic motorcycle accident in Derry on Sunday evening has claimed the life of Christopher Chick, a 61-year-old resident of the town. Authorities say the crash occurred on June 21, 2026, near 71 Island Pond Road, prompting an emergency response from police, firefighters, and medical personnel.
According to the Derry Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 5:23 p.m. following reports of a serious collision involving a single motorcycle. Upon arrival, first responders found Chick suffering from critical injuries and immediately began emergency medical treatment at the scene.
Chick was subsequently transported by the Derry Fire Department to Parkland Medical Center, where medical teams continued efforts to save his life. Sadly, despite those efforts, he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Due to the severity of the incident, members of the Derry Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team were called in to conduct a detailed investigation. Island Pond Road remained closed for several hours as investigators examined the scene, gathered evidence, and worked to determine the factors that may have contributed to the crash. The roadway has since reopened to normal traffic.
The sudden loss of Christopher Chick has left family members, friends, and community residents grieving. As investigators continue to search for answers, many are remembering a life cut short in a heartbreaking tragedy.
