A rapidly growing wildfire burning northwest of Flagstaff has prompted evacuation orders for residents in parts of rural Coconino County as firefighters continue working to contain what has been identified as the Spring Valley Fire. The blaze, fueled by dry vegetation and challenging weather conditions, has drawn a large-scale response from local, state, and federal fire agencies, with crews focused on protecting lives, homes, and critical infrastructure.
The fire was reported in a rural area northwest of Flagstaff and quickly attracted the attention of emergency responders due to its potential to spread through grass, brush, and forest fuels. Firefighters were dispatched shortly after the first reports of smoke, and additional resources were requested as crews assessed the fire’s behavior and identified potential threats to nearby communities. Initial attack efforts included fire engines, hand crews, bulldozers, water tenders, and aircraft assigned to slow the fire’s advance.
