Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred on a highway ramp in O’Fallon, leaving one driver dead and another person in police custody.
According to preliminary information, officers responded to reports of gunfire involving two vehicles on the highway ramp. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers found one driver suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by emergency medical personnel, the victim was pronounced dead.
Police quickly secured the area, closing portions of the highway ramp while detectives and crime scene investigators collected evidence and documented the scene. The closure caused traffic disruptions as authorities worked to determine how the incident unfolded.
Officials confirmed that another driver believed to have been involved in the incident was taken into custody at the scene without further incident.
