Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a woman Friday afternoon after responding to reports that she was allegedly threatening to shoot people in the Lemmon Valley area. The incident prompted a significant law enforcement response as deputies worked to safely resolve the potentially dangerous situation.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 1 p.m. to the area near Idaho Street and Mistletoe Street following reports of an armed individual making threats. Upon arrival, deputies located the suspect and immediately implemented de-escalation tactics, using distance, cover, and communication to manage the encounter while protecting nearby residents.
Authorities said the woman, identified as 41-year-old Marabai Stockton, complied with deputies’ commands, peacefully placing the firearm on the ground before being taken into custody without further incident. No shots were fired during the encounter, and no injuries to deputies, the suspect, or members of the public were reported.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office praised the deputies’ response, noting that incidents involving armed individuals are highly unpredictable and require officers to continually assess evolving risks while prioritizing public safety.
