Investigators have released two ransom notes connected to the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, the mother of NBC’s Savannah Guthrie, in a renewed effort to generate leads in the months-long investigation. According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the notes contain unique patterns of word choice, sentence structure, and phrasing that investigators believe may reveal the identity of the individual responsible. Rather than focusing solely on handwriting, authorities are encouraging anyone who recognizes the linguistic style or expressions used in the letters to come forward with information.

The first note, sent shortly after Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Tucson-area home, demanded millions of dollars in cryptocurrency in exchange for her safe return. A second message, delivered days later, claimed that Nancy had died after being taken. Investigators have previously stated that the two communications appear to have similarities suggesting they may have originated from the same source, although the investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities also continue to analyze surveillance footage, forensic evidence, digital records, and tips from the public as they work to determine what happened to Guthrie. Officials say every new piece of information is being carefully evaluated, and they remain hopeful that releasing the notes will prompt someone to recognize details that have so far gone unnoticed.

Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance has drawn national attention, with her family continuing to appeal for information that could help locate her or identify those responsible. Law enforcement emphasized that even seemingly minor observations about the language or circumstances surrounding the case could prove valuable as investigators continue pursuing all available leads
