Zhengfeng Bo Shooting: Irvine Man Identified as Suspect Killed in Deputy-Involved Shooting During Chino Hills Kidnapping Investigation
Zhengfeng Bo, 67, of Irvine, California, died on July 29, 2026, after being shot by deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department during a violent kidnapping and homicide investigation in Chino Hills.
According to investigators, Zhengfeng Bo and Jianquan Bo, 66, were identified as suspects in the kidnapping and fatal shooting of Shukur Aikebaer, 60, of Chino Hills.
Authorities allege that the incident began when Aikebaer stepped outside his home during a power outage. Investigators say the two suspects shot him, forced him into the trunk of a vehicle, and fled the scene. Deputies later attempted to stop the vehicle after observing it speeding away, not initially knowing a kidnapping had occurred.
The pursuit ended in the 2400 block of Wandering Ridge Drive. According to the sheriff’s department, Jianquan Bo complied with deputies’ commands and exited the vehicle. Investigators allege that Zhengfeng Bo exited the driver’s seat, approached the trunk, and fired another shot at Aikebaer, who was inside the trunk.
Deputies then opened fire, striking Zhengfeng Bo. Deputies immediately rendered aid, but both Zhengfeng Bo and Aikebaer were pronounced dead at the scene.
Jianquan Bo was taken into custody without injury and booked on suspicion of murder and kidnapping. Investigators also executed a search warrant at the Irvine residence where the two men reportedly lived. Authorities have stated that although the two shared a residence, they were not related.
At this time, investigators have not disclosed a motive for the alleged kidnapping and homicide. They are also examining the circumstances surrounding the power outage that occurred shortly before the crime.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the incident, including the deputy-involved shooting, which is subject to standard investigative procedures. Additional information is expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
The allegations against Zhengfeng Bo were based on investigators’ account of the incident. Because he died during the encounter, the criminal case against him will not proceed through the court system, and no judicial determination of guilt was made.
