San Bernardino Shooting: Chino Hills Man Shukur Aikebaer Killed in Kidnapping, Suspect Fatally Shot by Deputies
The Chino Hills, California, community is mourning the tragic death of Shukur Aikebaer, 60, who was fatally shot during a kidnapping that ended in a deadly confrontation with San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the incident unfolded on the night of July 29, 2026, during a power outage at Aikebaer’s Chino Hills home. Investigators said Aikebaer went outside to check his electrical panel when he was allegedly confronted by Zhengfeng Bo, 67, and Jianquan Bo, 66. Authorities allege that Aikebaer was shot once, forced into the trunk of a vehicle, and kidnapped.
Deputies responding to reports of gunfire and screams spotted the suspects’ vehicle speeding away but were initially unaware that a kidnapping had occurred. A short pursuit ended in a residential neighborhood, where investigators say the driver, identified as Zhengfeng Bo, exited the vehicle, opened the trunk, and fatally shot Aikebaer before deputies could intervene. Deputies then opened fire, fatally striking Bo.
Jianquan Bo surrendered without incident and was taken into custody. He has been booked on suspicion of murder and kidnapping and remains in custody as the investigation continues. Authorities said the two suspects knew each other and shared a residence in Irvine. Investigators also confirmed that Aikebaer and Zhengfeng Bo had a prior working relationship, though a motive has not yet been disclosed. Detectives are also examining whether the power outage was intentionally caused to lure Aikebaer outside.
Family friend Adam Nijiati described Aikebaer as a humble, kind, and respected member of the local Uyghur community. He is survived by his wife and three daughters, who are now mourning an unimaginable loss. Friends and community members have remembered him as a compassionate man whose generosity and quiet nature left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping and homicide. Additional information may be released as the investigation progresses.
Heartfelt condolences are extended to the family, friends, and loved ones of Shukur Aikebaer during this profoundly difficult time. May his memory be a source of comfort and strength to all who knew and loved him.
