Fatal A9 Crash Near Dunkeld Claims Life of 46-Year-Old Audi Driver as Police Scotland Appeal for Witnesses
A 46-year-old man has died following a tragic crash involving a grey Audi A4 and a white Scania HGV on the A9, just south of Dunkeld, Scotland.
The collision occurred at approximately 6:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, prompting a major emergency response. Despite the efforts of first responders, the Audi driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police confirmed that his next of kin have been informed.
The driver of the Scania lorry was taken to hospital as a precaution. The A9 remained closed for more than 12 hours while Road Policing officers conducted investigations and recovery operations before reopening around 6:30 p.m.
Sergeant David Farr extended condolences to the victim’s family and friends, describing it as an extremely difficult time. He confirmed that enquiries into the fatal collision are ongoing and appealed to anyone who witnessed the crash or saw either vehicle before the incident to come forward.
Police are also urging motorists who were travelling on the A9 around the time of the crash to review any dash-cam footage that may assist investigators.
