The Lubbock, Texas, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of JaZayden Lozano, 18, whose life was tragically cut short following a shooting and single-vehicle crash during the early morning hours of August 2.
According to the Lubbock Police Department (LPD), officers responded at approximately 3:02 a.m. to the 300 block of the northbound Interstate 27 access road near the Marsha Sharp Freeway after receiving reports of a serious crash.
Investigators determined that JaZayden Lozano was traveling north on the access road when he sustained a gunshot wound before his vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and rendered medical aid before transporting Lozano to University Medical Center (UMC) for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he later succumbed to his injuries. The Lubbock Police Department confirmed that Lozano passed away on Sunday following the incident.
The tragic sequence of events has left family members, friends, classmates, and the wider Lubbock community grieving the loss of a young man whose life ended far too soon.
