A 43-year-old man is in custody after allegedly shooting and killing his wife during a domestic incident in Cloverleaf, a community near Houston.
Law enforcement officials say Jose Romero has been charged with murder following the death of his wife, 39-year-old Yanira Marin de Romero, after a violent altercation inside their home.
What Investigators Say Happened
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred during an argument inside the couple’s residence. Authorities report that Yanira was in the bathroom when Romero allegedly fired multiple shots, striking her fatally.
Investigators say the couple’s three children — ages 3, 8, and 13 — were inside the home at the time of the incident but were not physically harmed.

Police stated that Romero himself contacted 911 shortly after the shooting and reportedly told dispatchers he had shot his wife.
