Authorities Say Home Was Intentionally Targeted in Early-Morning Gunfire Incident
Law enforcement officials in Newark have announced the arrest of a suspect connected to a March 2026 shooting that left a residence riddled with bullets in the Village of Barrets Run Apartments.
The case, originally reported in the early hours of March 15, 2026, involved gunfire directed at an occupied home in the 700 block of North Barrett Lane.
Early-Morning Shooting Damaged Occupied Residence
According to the New Castle County Division of Police, officers responded around 4:03 a.m. after reports of shots fired in the apartment complex.
When police arrived, they made contact with an adult and a juvenile victim who reported that their residence had been struck multiple times by gunfire.
Investigators later determined that:

Bullets struck multiple windows of the home
Additional rounds penetrated interior areas, including a bed
Fortunately, no one inside the residence was physically struck
Detectives Determined Shooting Was Targeted
The department’s Criminal Investigations Unit and Evidence Detection Unit processed the scene and took over the case.
Following a detailed investigation, detectives concluded that the shooting was intentional and targeted.
Authorities identified 26-year-old Emanuel Greaves of Wilmington as the suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest on multiple felony charges.
Suspect Located Out of State Months Later
Despite early efforts, investigators were initially unable to locate Greaves.
However, on May 8, 2026, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service in Albany, New York, Greaves was located at a residence in Troy.
He was taken into custody on an out-of-state fugitive warrant and transported to the Troy Police Department Headquarters pending extradition.
Charges Filed in Delaware
Once extradited, Greaves will face multiple felony charges, including:
Two counts of Attempted Murder in the First Degree
Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
Officials say the charges reflect the severity of the alleged targeted attack on an occupied residence.
Ongoing Investigation and Public Appeal
Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains active as detectives continue reviewing evidence and potential connections to other incidents.
