According to the Lanett Police Department, officers and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the 600 block of North 10th Avenue around 9:21 p.m. on May 12, 2026, following reports of gunfire and a person lying in the roadway.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they located the victim, later identified as Tommy Boyd Jr., suffering from serious gunshot wounds. Authorities said emergency medical aid was immediately rendered in an effort to save his life. Despite those efforts, Boyd succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Chambers County Coroner’s Office.
