The community is mourning the tragic and sudden loss of 38-year-old David Bowman, who was fatally stabbed Wednesday night at an apartment complex in DeKalb County.
According to DeKalb County police, officers responded at approximately 11:30 p.m. to the 3 Oaks Bend apartment complex off Hambrick Road after reports of a violent incident. When officers arrived, they found Bowman suffering from a stab wound. Despite emergency efforts by first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators later located the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Courtney Estada, at a nearby location. He was taken into custody without incident and has since been charged with murder. Estada is currently being held in the DeKalb County Jail as the investigation continues.
Authorities have not released a motive in the case, and it remains unclear what connection, if any, existed between Estada and Bowman prior to the deadly encounter. Detectives continue to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and review details surrounding the incident.
Beyond the investigation, family and friends are now left grieving the unexpected loss of Bowman. Loved ones describe the situation as heartbreaking and difficult to process, as they struggle to come to terms with a life taken in a sudden act of violence.
The fatal stabbing has also left many residents in the area shaken, as police continue working to understand how the confrontation unfolded inside the apartment complex late Wednesday night.
As the case moves forward, the DeKalb County Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward to assist investigators.
In the meantime, the community is rallying around Bowman’s family, offering prayers and support during an unimaginable time of grief, while remembering a man whose life ended far too soon in a tragic and violent incident.
