Matraville Community Mourns the Loss of Stan Demetrios

The family of Stan Demetrios announces with profound sadness that their beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026. His passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Stan Demetrios will be remembered as a devoted family man whose kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love shaped generations. He carried himself with grace, compassion, and humility, always placing family at the center of his life. Those closest to Stan describe him as a man of strength and warmth who offered guidance, laughter, and unconditional support to everyone around him.

Throughout his life, Stan built a legacy grounded in love, respect, and generosity. Whether spending cherished moments with his children and grandchildren or sharing stories and wisdom with friends, he had a remarkable ability to bring people together. His memory will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched and the enduring values he instilled in his family.


Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral arrangements and celebration of life services to honor Stan’s memory. The funeral service will be held at St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at 10:30 a.m.

Following the service, the committal will take place at Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park. A wake celebrating Stan’s remarkable life will afterward be held at Randwick Golf Club.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be collected at the church in support of the Heart Foundation.
