The Wellington, New Zealand community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Nikora Tamati Williams, whose passing on Saturday, May 16, 2026, has left family, friends, and loved ones filled with deep sorrow. A beloved son, devoted father, loving partner, treasured mokopuna, and loyal friend, Nikora’s death has created an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Described by whānau as a young man with a “beautiful smile, big personality, and cheeky laugh,” Nikora brought light and energy wherever he went. Loved ones shared that you would often hear him before you saw him, a reflection of the joyful spirit and warmth he carried into every room. His vibrant personality and deep love for those around him made him unforgettable to family and friends alike.

Nikora was the cherished partner of Passion and a devoted father to his beloved daughter, Wairere, who remained at the center of his world. His family lovingly remembered the dedication and affection he showed to those closest to him, especially his girl and his baby, whom he loved more than life itself.

A proud uri of Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Rongowhakaata, Ngāti Porou, Ngāpuhi, and Te Arawa, Nikora’s passing is being mourned deeply across whānau, friends, and the wider community.

Funeral arrangements shared by Tipene Funerals confirm that Nikora will lie at 33 Tyndall Street, Waiwhetū, where whānau and friends are warmly welcomed to pay their respects during scheduled visiting times on Wednesday, May 20, and Thursday, May 21, 2026. An evening karakia and poroporoaki will also be held in his honor.

A funeral service celebrating Nikora’s life will take place on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Tipene Funeral Home on Kenepuru Drive in Porirua, followed by a private crematorium service for immediate whānau.

Loved ones have respectfully asked visitors to honor tikanga in place during this time, including refraining from touching Nikora’s face, as the family works to preserve his “handsome smile.”
