Prosecutors said Washington played a role in the deadly shooting that unfolded during a violent confrontation in 2023, when gunfire erupted from a moving vehicle and struck Nguyen. Investigators testified that the attack was targeted and involved multiple suspects working together before and after the shooting.

During the trial, jurors heard testimony from detectives, witnesses, and forensic experts who detailed how investigators linked Washington to the crime scene through evidence gathered during the lengthy investigation. Surveillance footage, cellphone records, and witness statements reportedly helped prosecutors build their case.

Authorities said Nguyen suffered fatal injuries during the shooting and died as a result of the attack, leaving family members devastated and prompting calls for justice throughout the investigation.

Washington is the third suspect to be convicted in the case, according to prosecutors, following earlier legal proceedings involving other individuals accused of participating in the drive-by shooting.

Family members of Nguyen were reportedly present in court as the verdict was read, bringing an emotional moment after months of hearings and courtroom testimony.

Sentencing for Washington is expected to take place at a later date. He could face decades in prison depending on the charges and sentencing guidelines tied to the conviction.

Officials say the case highlights ongoing concerns surrounding retaliatory gun violence and coordinated shootings involving multiple suspects.
