The incident happened at the JLG Industries site located at 253 Success Drive in Ayr Township, just outside McConnellsburg, within the Fulton County Business Park. Officials clarified the location is separate from the company’s primary manufacturing plant.

Fulton County Coroner Berley Souders confirmed that emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, where they later identified the victim as Michael Mills, 49, of Newburg. He was pronounced deceased at 10:40 a.m., according to officials.

Investigators said Mills was employed through a third-party maintenance contractor working at the facility. A second worker was also hurt in the incident and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening.

In a statement, JLG Industries extended condolences to those affected, saying its thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all impacted by the tragedy. The company also confirmed it is cooperating fully with an ongoing investigation involving OSHA and other local, state, and federal agencies.

Officials said an autopsy will be conducted Saturday to help determine the exact cause of death.

Emergency crews, including the Fannett Metal Fire Company, assisted McConnellsburg Fire Company during what was described as a challenging and extended rescue effort. Specialized teams trained in confined space operations were also called in to assist at the scene.
