A heartbreaking tragedy has left the Anderson community grieving after 16-year-old Spencer James Martin lost his life in a devastating single-vehicle crash early Monday morning in Pendleton, South Carolina.

According to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office, the fatal accident happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. along Five Forks Road. Emergency responders were dispatched after Anderson County 911 received reports of a serious crash involving a vehicle that had left the roadway.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they discovered a devastating situation with one teenager pronounced dead and two other occupants injured. Coroner Greg Shore later identified the victim as Spencer James Martin, a 16-year-old from Anderson.

Preliminary findings indicate that Martin was riding in the front passenger seat when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. Authorities said the car traveled off the roadway before crashing violently into a tree along Five Forks Road.

The impact caused severe damage to the vehicle and left emergency personnel working through a tragic overnight scene. Officials stated that Spencer suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His death has officially been ruled accidental by the coroner’s office.

The two other occupants survived the crash and were transported for medical treatment. Their conditions have not been publicly released.
