Teen Killed in Northwest Indianapolis Apartment Complex Shooting; Police Investigating Early Evening Gunfire

A teenage boy was killed in a shooting Sunday evening on Indianapolis’ northwest side, marking another violent incident as investigators continue working multiple recent homicide cases across the city.

The shooting occurred shortly before 8 p.m. at the Colonial Square Apartments near 46th Street and Moeller Road, in an area just off Renn Lane. According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched after reports of a person shot inside the apartment complex.

When police arrived at the scene, the teen victim had already succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have not yet released his name or age, pending family notification and ongoing investigative steps.

Detectives remained on scene for several hours collecting evidence, canvassing the apartment grounds, and speaking with potential witnesses in an effort to determine what led up to the shooting. At this time, officials have not disclosed any suspect information or a possible motive.

Police also confirmed that no individuals have been detained in connection with the incident. However, investigators emphasized that there is currently no indication of an ongoing threat to the surrounding community.

The case is being treated as part of a broader spike in recent violence, with officials noting that this marks the third homicide reported in Indianapolis within a 24-hour period.
