According to the Modesto Police Department, officers responded shortly after 9:20 a.m. to a reported disturbance at a residence. When they arrived, they found Fabiola Gonzalez suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite emergency response efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

As officers continued searching the home, they discovered 54-year-old Silvia Nuñez and newborn Baby Mateo, both also suffering from apparent stab wounds. Silvia was pronounced dead at the scene, while Baby Mateo was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. A 4-year-old child was also located inside the residence and transported for medical evaluation.

Authorities quickly secured the area after receiving information that led them to believe the suspect was still nearby. Investigators later located and arrested 28-year-old Joaquin Escoto inside a nearby residence. He was taken into custody without incident. Officials stated that Escoto shared a child with Fabiola Gonzalez.

Police believe the incident is isolated and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active as detectives continue to process evidence and work to determine the full circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

As the investigation continues, the Modesto community stands in mourning, offering prayers, support, and strength to those left behind during this unimaginable time.
