Court documents have identified the victims and suspect in a deadly domestic violence shooting that unfolded over several hours Sunday evening, leaving three people dead and a police officer injured, authorities confirmed.
According to an indictment filed Monday, the suspect has been identified as Bryan Andrew Moore, born in 1987, who is now facing multiple charges, including aggravated murder, kidnapping, and unlawful firearm possession.
The victims killed in the incident are identified as 37-year-old Jenna Mary Overson, 70-year-old Mary Beth Overson, and 16-year-old Kobyn McClure.
Authorities said the violent situation began around 4 p.m. Sunday when Sandy police and assisting agencies responded to reports of a domestic disturbance and gunfire near Evans Street and Ross Avenue. Residents in the area were urged to shelter in place as officers attempted to secure the scene.
Police say officers came under fire upon arrival, leading to an exchange of gunfire. During the incident, one Sandy Police sergeant was shot and later transported by LifeFlight to a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. Officials confirmed the suspect eventually surrendered peacefully.
Investigators say multiple victims were found deceased as the situation unfolded, though the exact sequence of events is still being pieced together. Authorities have also confirmed additional charges tied to the kidnapping of two individuals, allegedly used as shields or hostages during the confrontation.
The relationship between the victims has not yet been fully clarified, and officials have not released further details about the circumstances leading up to the violence.
The incident prompted a large multi-agency response involving the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, SWAT teams, fire crews, and emergency medical personnel. Residents in the area described a heavy law enforcement presence, with helicopters and emergency vehicles flooding the neighborhood.
Community members and local officials have expressed shock and sorrow over the tragedy. Sandy Mayor Kathleen Walker described the incident as an “unimaginable loss of lives” and urged the community to support the victims’ families while allowing investigators to continue their work.
As the investigation continues, authorities say they are focused on determining the full timeline of events and ensuring all those affected receive answers in the wake of the deadly shooting.
