Bellwood Shooting Leaves Two Dead; Authorities Continue Search for Suspect

BELLWOOD, Ill. — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the lives of two people early Monday morning in west suburban Bellwood, marking one of the village’s rare homicide cases in recent years.


Bellwood police officers responded at approximately 1:33 a.m. to reports of gunfire in the 1100 block of 32nd Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered an 18-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency personnel transported both victims to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where they were later pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victims as 18-year-old Bishop W. Jenkins and 23-year-old Sincere Aaron. Officials confirmed that Jenkins died from multiple gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide. Authorities have not yet released additional information regarding Aaron’s cause and manner of death, though investigators continue to treat the incident as a homicide investigation.

As detectives work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the shooting, officials have not disclosed a possible motive or whether the victims were specifically targeted. Investigators have also not indicated whether the victims knew each other or if additional individuals may have been involved in the incident.

No arrests had been announced as of Tuesday, and no suspect information has been released. The Bellwood Police Department is leading the investigation with assistance from the West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, which is helping process evidence, interview witnesses, and review any available surveillance footage from the area.

The deadly shooting has drawn attention due to the rarity of homicides in Bellwood. According to previously reported federal crime statistics, the village recorded no murders in 2025 and had not reported a homicide in 2026 prior to this incident.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has information that could assist investigators to contact the Bellwood Police Department. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
