Law enforcement initially identified multiple persons of interest in connection with the incident. However, investigators later confirmed that 19-year-old Zykerian Quentavius Magee has been cleared as a subject. One suspect, identified as 19-year-old Cortavion Dewayne Hobbs, remains wanted in connection with the shooting and is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Investigators say Hobbs was last believed to be in the vicinity of the 200 block of South Bluff Street in Mount Olive. Authorities have warned that he may still be in the area, prompting increased patrols, tactical response units, and coordinated search efforts across Covington County and surrounding jurisdictions.

A second individual is also being investigated as part of the ongoing inquiry, though officials have not yet released identifying information.

Local law enforcement agencies, along with state partners, are actively involved in the search operation, which includes ground teams and perimeter containment in nearby wooded areas where suspects were reportedly seen fleeing after the shooting.

Residents in the area have been urged to remain vigilant, secure their homes and vehicles, and immediately report any suspicious activity. Authorities stress that the suspect should not be approached under any circumstances.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation has issued guidance for the public, asking anyone with information about Hobbs’ whereabouts to contact 911 or the agency’s tip line at 855-642-5378.

Officials say the investigation remains active and fluid, and further updates will be released as new verified information becomes available.
