SOUTHLAKE, Texas — Authorities responded to a serious emergency on the Southlake Boulevard bridge Tuesday, August 4, prompting temporary closures along State Highway 114 and a significant emergency response in the Southlake area.
According to the Southlake Police Department, police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and other first responders were dispatched following reports of a person experiencing a mental health crisis on the bridge.
A woman was located at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Authorities have not released her identity, and additional information about her condition has not been made public.
SH 114 Temporarily Closed
The emergency response resulted in temporary closures of eastbound lanes of State Highway 114 toward Grapevine. The closures were necessary to allow emergency personnel to safely manage the scene and provide assistance.
Motorists traveling through the area were advised to use alternate routes while the emergency response remained underway. The closure caused traffic congestion across portions of the surrounding roadway network as drivers were redirected.
After the situation was resolved, authorities announced that all lanes had reopened. Traffic remained congested for some time afterward as vehicles moved through the area and normal travel patterns gradually resumed.
Traffic Signal Problems Add to Delays
The emergency response also coincided with unrelated traffic signal outages at nearby intersections.
Temporary traffic control measures were implemented at Southlake Boulevard and Shady Oaks Drive and at SH 114 and Dove Road while crews worked to restore the affected signals.
Police later confirmed that both intersections had returned to normal operation.
