Colorado Road Rage Shooting: Man and Wife Jailed After Deadly Pursuit, Police Say
A Colorado man and his wife are behind bars following a deadly road-rage confrontation in which another driver was fatally shot, according to police.
Authorities allege that Steven Simpson, 25, pursued a pickup truck through a suburban neighborhood before firing multiple shots at the vehicle. Police say Andrew Bott, 23, was struck in the head and later died from his injuries.
The incident was reportedly captured in part through a 911 emergency call involving Simpson’s wife, Corryn Simpson, 26. Dispatchers were reportedly able to hear the escalating confrontation and warned the couple to stop pursuing the other vehicle.
Moments later, gunfire could reportedly be heard over the emergency call, according to investigators.
The circumstances leading to the confrontation remain under investigation, including what triggered the alleged road-rage incident and how the pursuit developed before the shooting.
Investigators are expected to examine the 911 recording, witness statements, surveillance footage and other evidence as they reconstruct the sequence of events. Authorities will also determine the individual roles allegedly played by Steven and Corryn Simpson.
The case has drawn attention because of the alleged escalation from a road confrontation into a fatal shooting and because portions of the incident were reportedly documented through the emergency call.
Both defendants remain in custody as the criminal case moves forward. The specific charges and evidence presented in court will determine how prosecutors proceed.
