Justin Porter Hamlett Cause of Death: Edmonton Kentucky Community Remembers 38-Year-Old Known for His Laughter, Family and Love of Life, The Edmonton, Kentucky community is mourning the passing of Justin Porter Hamlett, who died Thursday, August 6, 2026, at UK Chandler Hospital in Lexington. He was 38 years old.

Justin was born on February 6, 1988, in Glasgow to the late Richard Hamlett and Cynthia Lynn Goodman. His passing has left his family, fiancé, children, friends, and many others who knew him facing a profound loss.

Those who knew Justin will remember a man whose personality was impossible to overlook. He was described as truly one of a kind and someone who could easily become the life of any gathering.

Justin had a natural ability to make people laugh. He rarely missed an opportunity to crack a joke, tease a friend, or bring some humor into an ordinary moment. His loved ones remember that wherever Justin was, laughter was never far behind.

Beneath his playful personality was a deep love for his children. Aiden Hamlett, Millie Deville Hamlett, and Jassalyn Hamlett were among the most important people in his life. They brought him tremendous pride and happiness, and his love for them was a defining part of who he was.

Justin also had a passion for anything with wheels and a motor. He enjoyed customizing and working on his vehicles, riding ATVs and dirt bikes, and spending time with the machines and hobbies that brought him happiness.

Music was another major part of Justin’s personality. He enjoyed listening to his favorite songs loudly, often loud enough that everyone nearby could hear them too. For Justin, enjoying life meant doing things in his own distinctive way.

His tattoos, piercings, Oakley sunglasses, and extensive collection of hats were also recognizable parts of his style. Friends and relatives will likely remember these familiar details alongside the larger-than-life personality that made him so memorable.

Justin enjoyed spending time with friends, joking around, telling stories, and simply having a good time. He did not need elaborate plans or expensive surroundings to enjoy himself. Good friends, loud music, a favorite ride, and plenty of laughter were often all he needed.

He also had a gentler side that was particularly evident in his relationship with his beloved bearded dragon, Nugget. The animal held a special place in Justin’s heart and reflected another side of a man who could be both mischievous and deeply caring.

Justin was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Hamlett and Cynthia Lynn Goodman; his grandparents, Rev. William and Armedia Hamlett and Eugene Lynn and Elosie Lynn Vance; his cousin, Whitney Barcel Emberton; and his stepfather, Gary Goodman.

He leaves behind his children, Aiden Hamlett, Millie Deville Hamlett, and Jassalyn Hamlett; his fiancé, Cheyenne Phelps; his brother, Kyle Hamlett Decker and his wife, Stephanie; and numerous extended family members.

His surviving relatives also include uncle Randall Hamlett and his wife, Becky; aunts Lecia Pruitt and Angie Branham and her husband, Richard; stepmother Teresa Hamlett; stepsister Morgan Deweese and her husband, Alan; and stepbrothers Jeremy Goodman and Shawn Goodman.

Justin also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will continue to remember the laughter and unforgettable personality he brought into their lives.

Funeral services for Justin Hamlett will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton, Kentucky. Burial will follow at Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 9, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again beginning at 8:00 a.m. Monday until the time of the funeral service at the funeral home.

For Justin’s family and friends, the coming days will be filled with grief but also with countless memories. They will remember his jokes, his laughter, his music, his rides, his Oakley sunglasses, his hats, and the unique personality that made him unmistakably Justin.

Most importantly, his children and loved ones will carry forward the memory of a man who loved deeply, lived with a big personality, and brought energy and humor into the lives around him.

Justin Porter Hamlett will be deeply missed by his children, fiancé, family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
