Turlock Shooting: 18-Year-Old Los Banos Man Arrested After Fatal Shooting Near Memorial Park
TURLOCK, CA — A fatal shooting near Turlock Memorial Park early Sunday morning has resulted in the arrest of an 18-year-old Los Banos man, according to the Turlock Police Department.
Officers were called to the 1100 block of Park Street at approximately 2:25 a.m. following a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police said officers secured the area and arrested Corey Pollard Jr., 18, of Los Banos, at the scene.
Pollard was later booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on suspicion of murder.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office is expected to release the victim’s name after notifying next of kin.
Acting Police Chief Steve Rodrigues expressed condolences to the victim’s family and praised the response of officers, dispatchers, emergency personnel and detectives.
Although an arrest has been made, authorities emphasized that the investigation remains active. Detectives are continuing to work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office assisted Turlock police during the investigation.
