The Pine Lake community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jauwan Walter Hayes Jr., 19, who died following a tragic drowning incident on August 9, 2026.
According to reports, the incident occurred near the 3800 block of Norman Wood Drive at Pine Lake. At approximately 6:24 p.m., Jauwan was at the beach with family members and swimming in a designated area between two floating platforms when witnesses noticed him begin struggling at the surface.
Moments later, Jauwan went underwater and did not resurface. Emergency responders were called to the scene and began rescue efforts, but despite attempts to locate and assist him, he sadly lost his life.
The tragic incident has left family, friends, and community members devastated as they mourn the loss of a young life taken far too soon.
Loved ones are remembering Jauwan for the person he was, the memories he shared with those around him, and the relationships that made him special. His passing has created a deep void for everyone who knew and cared for him.
