LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Lexington community is mourning the death of 16-year-old Di’Zhon Robertson, who was reportedly killed in a shooting at Charles Young Park.
The shooting occurred Saturday evening, Aug. 15, when gunfire erupted at the Lexington park, leaving multiple people wounded. According to initial reports, five people were shot, including two children. One person was killed, while four others survived with injuries initially described as non-life-threatening.
Robertson, 16, was identified as the teenager who lost his life in the violence. His death has added to the grief surrounding an incident that also left a 4-year-old child, a 14-year-old and two adults injured.
The shooting happened after the annual East End Day community event had taken place at the park earlier in the day. The violence prompted a significant police response, with authorities working to secure the area and investigate what led to the gunfire.
Lexington police also declared a police staffing emergency following the shooting and called additional officers to duty as the investigation unfolded.
