Police are investigating after two women were allegedly stabbed in separate incidents within approximately 24 hours, leading to the arrest of a 27-year-old man.
The first alleged attack occurred at around 1:15 p.m. Sunday on Young Street. According to police, a 53-year-old woman from Skye was allegedly approached from behind and attacked with a sharp object. She suffered injuries that were described as not life-threatening and was transported to hospital for medical treatment.
A second alleged incident occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. Monday on Playne Street. Police said a 29-year-old woman from Western Australia was allegedly approached from behind before being stabbed and having her bag and mobile phone stolen.
The woman was also taken to the hospital, where she received treatment for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The two incidents have prompted a police investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged attacks and whether they are connected.
A 27-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the investigation. Police are continuing inquiries and have urged anyone with information or relevant footage from the areas where the incidents occurred to come forward.
The incidents have caused concern among residents and visitors in the Frankston community, as authorities work to ensure public safety while the investigation continues.
