CLAYTON, Mo. — Police are investigating a shooting that left a man hospitalized Thursday morning, with two people taken into custody in connection with the incident.
According to Clayton police, officers responded to the area near South Brentwood Boulevard and Bonhomme Avenue shortly after 10 a.m. following reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they found a male victim who had suffered a gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, where his injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening.
Police subsequently took two people into custody as investigators began working to determine what led to the shooting. Authorities have not yet publicly released the identities of those individuals or said what charges they may face.
Investigators are expected to examine the circumstances leading up to the gunfire, speak with witnesses and collect evidence from the scene. It remains unclear whether the shooting was the result of a dispute or whether the victim and those taken into custody knew one another.
No additional injuries have been reported in connection with the incident at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are expected to release additional information as it becomes available.
