Detroit Fatal Shooting: Police Seek Armed Suspect After Woman Killed and Another Critically Injured
DETROIT, Mich. — The Detroit Police Department is asking the public for information about a suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting on August 21, 2026, that left one woman dead and another in critical condition.
According to preliminary information released by police, officers are investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 11:15 p.m. in the 15500 block of East Warren Avenue. When authorities responded, they found two female victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
One woman was pronounced dead as a result of her injuries. A second female victim was transported for medical treatment and remained in critical condition.
Police said the suspect shown in images released to the public arrived at the location on foot and later fled the area on foot. Investigators are working to determine what led to the shooting and whether the victims and suspect knew one another.
Authorities have warned that the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous and are urging members of the public not to approach or attempt to confront him.
Detectives with the Detroit Police Department’s Homicide Unit are continuing to gather evidence, review available surveillance or video footage and speak with witnesses who may have information about the shooting or the suspect’s movements before and after the incident.
Police are asking anyone who was in the area around the time of the shooting, or anyone who may have captured relevant footage, to contact investigators.
