DALLAS, Texas — A late-night shooting in Deep Ellum left three people injured after gunfire erupted near Elm Street around 1 a.m., according to police.
Authorities responded to reports of gunfire in the popular entertainment district and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Three people were injured in the incident and were transported to medical facilities for treatment. Their conditions were not immediately detailed in the initial information available.
Investigators reviewing surveillance footage reportedly identified muzzle flashes coming from a gray Dodge Challenger during the shooting. Police later located the vehicle and recovered what was described as an AK-style rifle from inside.
Authorities subsequently arrested 23-year-old Demond Hardy, who was charged with four counts of aggravated assault in connection with the incident.
Detectives are continuing to examine the circumstances that led to the gunfire, including what happened immediately before the shooting and whether the victims were specifically targeted.
The investigation may include additional review of surveillance footage from businesses and other properties in Deep Ellum, as well as witness interviews and forensic examination of the recovered firearm and vehicle.
